About the Cottonwood Range & Livestock Field Station
Located in the heart of Western South Dakota range and ranch country, the Cottonwood Research Station strives to provide research ranchers can use.

We conduct research on 2640 acres at Cottonwood, and an additional 1100 acres are grazed at Fort Meade (30 miles north of Rapid City).

We maintain a herd of 125 Angus - Simmental crossbred cows that are the base of our cow/calf reseach and also we utilize 100 - 150 yearling steers for our summer grazing studies.
